Using Rabbit Fur and Fiber

Fiber
There are several fantastic rabbit breeds bred specifically for their amazing, soft hair (or fiber). Recognized ARBA breeds include Satin Angora, Giant Angora, English Angora and French Angora. Other non-recognized crosses and breeds are also be popular such as the German Angora. Each breed produces a different quality and quantity of fiber, and has a different range of colors (some recognized by ARBA and some not). Angora fiber (also called wool) is commonly used to knit and felt apparel such as sweaters. Angora fiber is well known for its softness, thin fibers, and halo which is a term knitters use referring to is fluffiness. It's also popular because of its silky texture. It is much warmer and lighter than wool due to the hollow core of the angora fiber which gives it its characteristic 'floating' feel. Typically Angora fiber is blended with other wool (such as sheep, alpaca or goat fiber), as Angora fiber is not naturally elastic.

Rabbits for Sustenance and Shit member Bonnie Brummett offers these useful booklets on how to sew with rabbit fur, available on Amazon.com. I have not read them yet myself; however, based on reviews, I recommend purchasing physical copies rather than kindle copies.
