This is the third in a series of classes that may be taken individually or together.
Whether you are interested in raising rabbits for meat, pelts, or for show, this class will will cover what to look for in a good quality commercial breed rabbit. Some of the popular commercial breeds are New Zealand, Californian, Rex, Champagne d'Argent, American Chinchilla, Silver Fox, Satin, etc.
We will discuss what to look for as far as health concerns, conformation, fur types, and color. We will learn how to evaluate rabbits using the Edelweiss Ranch & Rabbitry Individual Rabbit Assessment Form, which will guide you step by step in assessing your rabbit. We will provide examples of both good and poor quality rabbits and we will practice hands-on assessments. Participants will have an opportunity to compare their assessments afterward. Attendees will go home with a packet containing much of the information covered in class for later reference as well as access to the digital file to use the Individual Rabbit Assessment Form for their own personal use.
Hosted by Edelweiss Ranch & Rabbitry. We raise three specific breeds of rabbits; Rex, Champagne d'Argents, and Argente Bruns. We raise our rabbits for meat, show, pelts, and even pets.
Due to the extensive nature of this class, only five participants are allowed per class. We recommend that participants be at least 13 years old to participate. Payment MUST BE MADE ahead of time to hold your RSVP. Payment may be made in cash in person or through our website or Paypal (please contact us for the paypal address). Receipts may be provided upon request.
We will also accept labor working in our rabbitry for 2 hours in exchange for your ticket.
Prices: $15/each. Children not participating are welcome to play in our play area in the same room, but must still be supervised by attendees.
